Shonn Greene absent from Jets practice with low-grade skin infection

Jets starting running back Shona Greene does not practice this afternoon because of an infection of the skin low on his right foot, according to a spokesman for the team. The infection was detected early and treated with antibiotics.

Greene will not play Sunday against the Bengals, the spokesman said. The team does not know if it's a staph infection or not because the skin infection can not be cultivated.

In the absence of Greene, LaDainian Tomlinson has worked with the first team offense, carrying the ball 11 times a day run-heavy.Rookie Bilal Powell worked with the second team as Joe McKnight (head) wore a red non-contact jersey and was held out of team work.

WR Plaxico Burress took part in a full load at practice this afternoon, do not appear to be limited at all in his work with the offense of the first team. It was the largest contribution Burress "since signing with the team of two and a half weeks.

C Nick Mangold (Stinger), RG Brandon Moore (hip) and QB Mark Brunell (finger) participated in team drills. NT Sione Pouha (knee), LB Bart Scott (leg) and DT Marcus Dixon (knee) were held.

Sanchez was 4-of-11 in 11-on-11 drills, by unofficial count, with two interceptions, Josh LB Antonio Cromartie, CB Mauge. Cromartie interception was on a pass in front of Burress in the end zone.

Nick Folk Nick Novak and each nailed two field goals of 50 yards to end the practice.
