A Sly Corporate Dance That Turns Into a Duel
Christine's shower protected with encouragement, gifts and kisses the earth in a gray area between the spirit of collegiality and more risky anything. Isabelle, meanwhile, accepts work assignments plum and trying both to please his boss and do the same. Ships in Cairo at the last minute with Philippe (Patrick Mille), a business associate who is also in love with Christine, Isabelle negotiating an important agreement. She also sleeps with Philip, who may have been part of the plan of Christine.
But Isabella is angry when Christine takes credit for his work, and tries, with the help of a faithful employee named Daniel (Guillaume Marquet), to get revenge. She and Christine wage war by stealth, trying to undermine each other while maintaining a minimum of professional decorum. But things quickly escalate, and looks and whispers toxic ice give way to forged notes, the brutal humiliations, and finally violence pure and simple.
Through it all, Mr. Corneau called spiritual faces and contrasting temperaments of the two lead actresses. Mrs.Thomas, his impeccably dry that his French is all angles and edges, the more terrifying when she seems most at ease. Ms. Sagnier, soft, touchy and visibly struggling to keep his cool, turns out to be even more frightening.
At some point, though - to say exactly when would ruin a surprise pretty amazing - the psychology of cat and mouse is jettisoned in favor of something more procedural. The two halves of "Love Crime" divide in the words of the title: The first explores the knotty, fever, ambiguous relationship between Christine and Isabelle, while the second is about guilt, innocence, proof and pattern. It is interesting and ingenious, even if some of the kinky, the queasy fascination that was so intoxicating in the previous scenes dying.
But "Love Crime" also works - as some of the latest films by Claude Chabrol - as a satire on the demonic power and eros in the executive suite.Christine and Isabelle working in the Paris office of a U.S. based multinational corporations, and wealthy world is elegant, attractive and absurd. So it becomes hilarious when the American owners appear, whether for quick on-site meetings or video conferences. Then the dialogue switches to English, a language and boilerplate management optimistic captured with devastating accuracy.
This is not the first time Mr. Corneau has explored the elements of sado-masochistic relationship between women in the modern workplace worldwide. In his 2003 film "Fear and Trembling," Sylvie Testud plays a young Belgian woman living in Tokyo, squirming under the heel of his supervisor. And in this film, as in "Love Crime" sympathy for the oppressed was balanced or even shaken, by detached, pruritus fun. You can not help rooting for Isabelle, but at the same time, you hope that things get really nasty.

I am Lefontaine, scribe of the royal seal, and I put quill to parchment today in an attempt to piece together the life of a young Frenchman who is now the center of a great debate over his life. This young man has had a life filled with strife and ill turns, and now faces death because of the mysterious powers he possesses, and his apparent lack of control over them. In an attempt to give him a fair and balanced trial, we try to figure out exactly how he came to be here. Raoul ("Rahl") de Rochefort was born by most estimations twenty-five to twenty-seven years ago, these calculations being based on the structure of his teeth and a vague timeline provided by people who claim to have seen him at certain ages. The Royal Astronomers have read his birth date as that of September 3rd, amidst the month and a rain of fire in the countryside, though safe to say this is sheer speculation, and no offense meant to the illustrious office of the Royal Astronomers. It is further speculated that he was probably born in France, just because it would be illogical for his parents to have come all the way from a different country in order to abandon him. It is possible, however, that they left him whilst traveling through the country. At any rate, the Miserables Orphanage found him wandering a small town in the northeast region of France near the Pas-de-Calais. He was bloody, disoriented, and didn't know who or where he was. They gave him the name Raoul of Rochefort, because he was found staring at a painting of the township of Rochefort, and took him in. Undoubtedly it was a cruel existence in the orphanage, which is well-known for its ill treatment of its wards and the institution that all of them should work long, hard hours for their meager keep. The oldest resident housekeepers remember the Rochefort child as small and dark, with very quick eyes and 'an evil way about him'. The other children found him odd, but since everyone is odd in an orphanage, they simply avoided him at all costs. He would often be found staring at things, and the objects would begin to smoke irregularly or tremble as if being shaken. When the boy was ten, a tall man in robes came to the orphanage and removed him to take him to a special school in Bretagne near St-Brieux. It was a school for the magically gifted.
