'Twilight' stars surprise fans with breakfast visit
Surprised the franchise faithful to take pictures, sign autographs and hand out breakfast.Fans like Sophia Nanoski and her family came all the way from Arizona to stand in line and wait to see the panel with Edward Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart. "I just love the fandom," Nanoski says, although her family was torn between being "Team Jacob" and "Team Edward" — a reference to the men in the Twilight love triangle, Lautner's werewolf and Pattinson's dreamy vampire.
Breaking Dawn castmates Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Elizabeth Reaser, Julia Jones and Boo Boo Stewart chatted with fans — many of them teenage girls — for more than 30 minutes. Reaser, who plays Esme, matriarch of the Cullen vampire clan, says she doesn't normally get this sort of fan face time. "It makes me feel like these films are special. It's an amazing feeling," Reaser says of the fandom. "When I was a kid, I would have been way into a movie like this."
Fans had been camped out and waiting outside the convention center for today's panel — housed in the San Diego Convention Center's 6,500-seat Hall H — since Monday afternoon. Many were staying at nearby hotels and used the buddy system to get food and stand in line for badges for each other.
Candie Hattori, a 37-year-old "Twi-mom" who ventured from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, to see the panel, was one of the first group of fans to arrive at the convention center at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
