June Making You Sweat Off Your Makeup? Try These.
Newly tanned gams, but also allows you to indulge in a new simpler, stress-free morning routine. If you're anything like me, you end up halfway running to work because you're late with bags and laptops and satchels in tow, and if once the temps reach 81 degrees, I end up arriving at my desk with (maybe) half a face of makeup still in tact, if I'm lucky. Through boat loads of very scientific research, I've finally come up with a quick makeup routine to get me out of the house on time without risking the infamous raccoon eye that invariably comes when you spend you morning rubbing the sweat out of your eyes. I've decided share said research so you don't fall victim to the meltdown that the warmer months are notorious for, cause I'm nice like that.First, throw your makeup in the freezer a few minutes prior to using it — it'll sharpen up any of your cream products (eyeliner included) that may have gone soft or separated in the heat. Just don't keep them in there for any longer or they'll freeze. Duh.
While your makeup's cooling off, prep your skin by cleansing and toning. Then head to the freezer to fetch your moisturizer and apply evenly and lightly. Your go-to product in the summer should be an SPF-infused moisturizer like this one from Vichy ($21 at drugstores ). Layer it on twice if you're going to be outside at all without a hat. I've also found Cetaphil ($5 at drugstores ) carries a cheaper formula that's ideal for all skin tones.
A primer is a great way to prep your skin and keep your makeup in place throughout the day. I love the light but velvety feel Smashbox Photo Finish Primer ($32 at Sephora ) leaves. Just make sure you use a dime-sized amount or you'll end up with serious unwanted shine.
Tinted moisturizer allows you to skip heavy, layered foundation but still get a little extra coverage when you need it. Aveeno Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer ($18 at Ulta.com ) has different shades of tint depending on your skin tone.
If you still feel like you need the fuller coverage of foundation, try to stay away from a liquid formula which will invariably smear, leaving you with blotchy coverage. Try using the powder-based products you spent the winter shying away from. I love how light Bare Minerals feels ($25 at BareEssentials ) but still has enough umph to conceal breakouts.
Follow with a touch of bronzer (try to avoid blush - you’re probably red enough) to contour the face. Just make sure you choose a bronzer with brown, rather than red undertones. My favorite is Physicians Formula's Cashmere Wear Ultra-Smoothing Bronzer ($14 at Physicians Formula) because it’s fragrance-free, hypoallergenic and paraben-free.
