GPS Dash Mount/Routing Wiring - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

I want to hook up my Garmin 760 to an upfitter switch. I will use the beanbag mount in the center dash pocket in a 2008 F-350 Superduty. I am looking for a way to run the wiring from the upfitter connection up through the dash while keeping it as clean as possible. I have looked under the dash and it looks really crowded under the center section. The connection on the Garmin mount is not that small either so I was hoping that the dash cover at the defroster outlet might be raised enough to slide the wiring under it???? Consider getting the Garmin hard mount for a safer and cleaner install. To run your wire use a flathead screwdriver and GENTLY raise the panel enough to fish the wire through. (we use bite sticks for this to avoid damage to the panel) not sure how large the wire is on that unit, you may want to drill a small hole in the panel. Put some bright tape on the end of the wire to aid in finding it while fishing through the mass of wires behind the dash. Where on the dash do you pry? I know that the heater ducting is located mainly in the center of the vehicle so I was thinking about trying to fish through to the driver's side of the unit. I like the idea of the bright tape; too many other wires under there. With the power supply that I have I will have to run the fish tape from the top of the dash down underneath the dash. Then I can pull the connector back through. The Garmin connector is less than 1/8 inch thick and should go through. The power converter on this power supply is about 1/2 inch thick so I would not be able to get it through the dash cover.
