Brunswick students weren't the only stars of commercial contest entry: Whit ...
W ho knew we had such great actors here? If you read the story on last week’s front page about the Brunswick Video Program’s entry in Ford Focus on Schools commercial contest, it outlined how our talented students created a commercial. I viewed the preliminary footage on YouTube and was so impressed with the kids. But I was also amazed at the work of the adults on camera – the Brunswick City police, Brunswick Hills firefighters Lin and Greg Crane – and students from the high school who aren’t members of the program. Wow, you guys! Now it’s time to vote and help the program win the big prize by going every day to fordfocusonschools.com and voting for our Brunswick video. The program could win anywhere from $1,000 for 10th place to $10,000 for first place. Of course, we want them to get the first place prize.
You can vote once a day from any e-mail address from now through July 15. Go Big Blue!!!
NEW KIND OF REUNION An Alum/Reunion is in the planning for anyone who has worked at Brunswick High School AND retired from the Brunswick School System. Organizers are trying to locate everyone and send them an invitation with details of where and when — probably in September. You can e-mail patriciacox296@gmail.com. with your name, year you retired, and your contact information. If you know anyone else, please do the same. I know there are lots and lots of former alumni who have retired from the schools, so this should be fun.
SPEAKING OF ALUMNAE: Our own Bridget Ginley will be involved in the Annual ArtSpace Trolley Tour of Local Artists Live/Work Space from noon to 4 p.m. June 25. You can have a guided Trolley Tour through Asiatown (St. Clair and Superior).
Local artists Bill and Harriet Gould host a unique opportunity to see the downtown places and spaces where local Cleveland artists dwell. These creative pioneers not only create culture but choose to live in their alternative spaces carved out of post industrial buildings. This year’s tour will focus on the growing spaces created in the Asiatown complex and many local institutions founded by artists such as Zygote Press and Keith Berr Photography Studio. See the Chinese Year of the Rabbit sculptures in the neighborhood and sample some amazing Asian cuisine. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors (60 plus) and students. Children younger than 12 are free. You can reserve your spot online at artspacecleveland.com or call (216) 241-4355 for reservations or more information. You can see Bridget’s work at the 1400 Building on East 30th St. She also has some of her paintings hanging at Kelly’s Cafe on Pearl Road in Brunswick.
