JANICE ANN'S JOURNAL: Crossing two parks off the 'bucket list'

Liz and Richard Byler’s son, John, has been accepted to The University of Colorado in Boulder. He will be in getting an MBA in Entrepreneurship with an emphasis on Sustainability. His undergraduate degree was in Architecture from Texas A&M University where he graduated in May 2010. John will be moving from Beaver Creek, Colorado, to Boulder in August to start back to school. John is working at the Red Sky Golf Course in Beaver Creek.

June 14 was Flag Day in America. Marti Hale-Odmark, Dorothy Hale’s daughter, hosted on June 11 a DAR meeting in Montana at her home with a lunch of quiche and salad and a sheet cake in red, white and blue. Her program was a presentation on how our American Flag has changed since the days of the American Revolution. Marti’s program also spoke to the need for all American’s to respect our American Flag and the wonderful history of our country and those who fought to make it great. Included in the presentation was the playing of the CD “A Dream of Liberty.”

Betsy Redd Smith, counselor at Lufkin High School, is a first time grandmother. Shannon and Joseph Cummins are the proud parents of Charlie Heath Cummins, born June 10. Grandparents are Preston and Betsy Smith of Huntington and Cecilia and Mark Cummins of Dallas.

Woodie Hicks and Edward Hicks were in Galveston for the Sand Castle Contest weekend. Cars were parked almost to her Palisades Palms condo on the east end of Galveston Island. Edward walked 20 minutes down the beach to take pictures of the contest. They met K.C. Baker and children one night for dinner.

Ed and Carolyn Booth shared their recipe for homemade ice cream. Ed said that I missed a good party when he made ice cream at the Hatchery in Athens. I told him that I was not invited. We will have to find out about it next time. Seems his Sunday School class requests either his peach or strawberry ice cream when they have a social.

Mabelyne McKnight is enjoying the birds in her bird bath. She names all of the different birds and how colorful they are.

Julie Jumper-Morris and Jenny Horton went with me to Milagros Tea House and Gifts. We saw Marie Carnes, Marty Sholars, Dot Brookshire, Doris Tatum, Brigettee Henderson and E’Lisa Hurst. Teresa from Crown Colony Country Club was working on Monday which was her day off from Crown.

The Panther cheer managers for this year are Scott Bailey, Patrick Haney, R.J. Jacildo, Samuel Johnson, Reed McCarty, Miller Meyers, Andrew Polk, Fabian Reyes, Shane Rowley, Jeff Slusher and Rico Solis.

Too Funny! I love anything Kitty Themed of course! but Fancy Feast must have the Kitty in the commercial!! I posted a pic of my adorable Cream Persian "Phoebe" on the Fancy Feast site and it was suggested in a comment that she would be a purrfect Flower Girl! Don't forget that in "Meet the Parents" the Himalayan "Jinksy" was to be the "Ring Bearer" in the wedding! So there has to be Kitty involvement, or where's the commercial Fancy Feast?? There has to be selections that are Kitty Themed! How about a Kitty Themed Cake??And, yes there has to be mention of what is happening to the poor Kitty AFTER the wedding, during the Honeymoon!
