Gary Johnson rips 'elitist' CNN for GOP debate snub

"Really, it's parsing hairs. I'm a believer in the system. I've always believed in the system. I've always felt that I've been treated fairly by the system," Johnson said Tuesday. "And you know what, if the system would just crack the door and give me a chance that's all I can ask for. But this is a a shut door here."

Johnson said it's unfair that other candidates that low levels of support are allowed to participate. 

"Rick Santorum would be at two percent and I just -- this is the process. I accept the process but I never really in my wildest dreams didn't think that I would be sitting at the table, talking about the issues of the day."

Johnson's libertarian views are unlike most other GOP candidates in the field, for example, he supports the legalization of marijuana. Another libertarian candidate, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) is also better known and has attracted more support. What is CNN afraid of? Gary Johnson was not even included in some of the polls that they used to measure their candidate criteria. I can't believe that CNN is already playing the game of picking winners and losers in the GOP field this early in the game. Whether or not you like what Gov. Johnson has to say, he has a right to be at the debate expressing his opinions. Very disappointing. At this incredibly early stage, what is the harm in including Johnson? They've only got seven participants, and they invited people who are not official candidates (Palin, Bachmann, Giuliani), people who are polling at or below Johnson's level (Huntsman, Santorum), and even people who have already said they weren't running (Huckabee, Trump, Daniels). It's ridiculous, and shows the clear bias against alternate voices in the debate. At least Paul will still be in it, although fifty bucks says they stick him on the far right or left podium, even though he's polling in the top three. Marginalization is the name of the game! @Huntington1 - Bill Clinton was at the same polling level as Gary Johnson was at the same stage of his campaign. So was he wasting his time? Same can be said of Jimmy Carter. This early on, nothing is certain. It is all Name Recognition. Also by excluding alternative view points they become under-represented at debates (even if a candidate isn't elected, new/innovative ideas are brought to light at public debates).
