Digital love thanks to dating sites

It seems that during every other commercial break nowadays we are barraged with ads for websites like eHarmony or Match.com. Hell, there is even a website called ChristianMingle.com where you can meet other like-minded Christian singles. Not to mention other sites like Adult Friend Finder and Grinder. They all leave plenty to the imagination and give people multiple options for finding Mr. or Ms. Right or Mr. or Ms. Right Now. But are these sites really helpful? Or do they do more damage to our already technology dependent society?

Like I mentioned in my last column - flirting on the Internet became a very normal thing for me at a young age. Instead of getting girls' phone numbers, my friends and I would rather exchange screen names and I would charm them with my witty commentary over a computer screen.

My first real girlfriend I met over the amateur blog website Xanga. Remember Xanga? If not, that is probably for the better, but either way she liked the song on my profile page and we started talking over AOL Instant Messenger and eventually we met in person. We went to the movies like a real couple and hit it off.

You have to remember that this was at the time where Myspace was at its height, so that website was a key tool in meeting other interesting people as well. I got at least a few dates out of random conversations through that website's messaging system. I remember opening this one message from a girl where she basically told me how much she liked me. That really blew me away. It was almost becoming the norm for me to find these people who live so close to me over the Internet.

But like many online relationships, it didn't work out. Chasing after girls who wanted to keep me in the friend zone was getting tiring. To be honest, I was getting kind of desperate and the loneliness was beginning to be unbearable.

In my act of desperation I turned to an ex-girlfriend. The one I met on Xanga to be precise. We would talk a lot and in passing she mentioned this website her and her friends had been using to scope out hot chubby guys with beards. I wish I were kidding, but you can imagine my first impression of her recommendation of Okcupid.com. All I knew about Ok Cupid is that it looked like a trashy version of Match.com, but I went along with it, for a few laughs. Maybe I'd even meet someone interesting...

Before I knew it I was constantly updating my profile. It didn't help that they would email me people that I might be compatible with every other day. But I can say something that even though I started it for laughs, I ended up finding my current amazing girlfriend and the best part is I did this all without paying a penny.

You don’t need to know sheet music notation on your ukulele . Instead we will use a form of notation known as ukulele tab.

The ukulele tab notation I will use is my own form of tabs that are readable on article sites. You will find the more common ukulele tab notation on my own site with ukulele tab and free sheet music.

When you hold your ukulele in playing position you will have the first string nearest your feet. It is the string with the highest pitch and it is usually an A.

Here comes an example on how to ukulele tab:

01 11 31 11 01

The first digit in the pair tells you what fret to press down. The second digit what string to play. 01 means that you play the first string without pressing down a left hand finger. In other words you play on the open first string.

11 means that you press down a left hand finger on the first fret on the first string and play. Now you can play the easy ukulele tab above.

Let’s play the first part of Amazing Grace:

03 means that you play the third open string. Play the notes with your right hand thumb or in some other way you like.

The length of the notes is not indicated with this type of ukulele tab notation. I guess you will find out how to play the notes by your self.

What left hand finger should you use when you play?

Even if it can be a little bit difficult at first I suggest that you play the notes on the first fret with your first finger, the notes on the second fret with your long finger and the notes on your third fret with your ring finger.

Of course, you can play all notes with your first finger but when your left hand fingers get used to playing the way I suggested it will actually become easier to find the right notes.
